Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) has become a common term in the boardrooms of owners, EPCs, engineering firms, and construction contractors globally. Why? Because it has proven to improve project performance. Teams globally are realizing project performance improvements in safety, quality, cost, schedule, productivity, and predictability. As a result, project teams are working diligently to develop, deploy, or optimize their Advanced Work Packaging programs to reduce the cost of implementation and improve return on investment. 

Our Advanced Work Packaging Advisors work with client teams to ensure program success. While Advanced Work Packaging has proven benefits, implemented incorrectly it can be costly with little return. Our Advisors work closely with clients to navigate the hurdles, helping ensure that their AWP program drives quantifiable project performance improvements. 

The Position

We are currently recruiting an AWP Advisor to join our team. This is a global advisory position, within our Construction Services department. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team of thought leaders to provide organizational and project-based consulting services for clients in several industry sectors.

  • Location: Calgary, Alberta

  • Travel Required: Some international travel may be required

  • Work Schedule: Monday - Friday with some evenings and weekends 

  • Salary or Hourly: Salary 

  • Management Role: No

  • Reports to: Vice President - Project Delivery

Education and Experience

  • Well-versed in Construction Industry Institute (CII) Research Team 272 and 319 publications

  • Completion of Advanced Work Packaging training

  • Industry Experience

    • Construction professional (10 years minimum field experience), or

    • Engineer (5 years minimum field experience), or

    • Engineering Technologist (10 years minimum field experience)

  • Project management certification is an asset (SCPM, PMP)​

  • Degree/Diploma is an asset

  • 2+ years of experience implementing Advanced Work Packaging on projects

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Consulting with project stakeholders to determine program requirements and expectations

  • Reviewing existing processes and procedures to understand workflows and standard organizational practices

  • Making recommendations for program optimization and improvement

  • Creating process flow diagrams to map program activities and deliverables

  • Technical writing including the development of procedures, reports, and templates

  • Performing on-site assessments and audits

  • Benchmarking performance and establishing target performance metrics

  • Evaluating program cost and program financial return data to ensure a satisfactory return on investment is being attained

  • Facilitating AWP workshops and seminars

  • Providing project-based coaching and mentorship to stakeholders
